Fire Doors save lives

Fire safety laws require us as your landlord to carry out checks of flat front fire doors in buildings with communal areas. We have written to all customers to whom this applies and enclosed our fire information fact sheet, which you can read here.

The purpose of fire doors is to keep any fire contained in the area in which it starts, to protect people and household possessions in other flats and to provide a safe, protected route to allow everyone to get out safely. All our doors are fitted to comply to or exceed the legal minimum of 30 minutes’ fire resistance.

As well as the material making up the fire door, the self-closer is a vital component for fire doors, ensuring the door closes automatically and remains closed. Along with other checks, we will be checking these operate correctly when we visit and are not damaged or loosened between the door and frame.

Our number one priority is always the safety and security of our tenants, so you will receive an appointment for us to come and inspect your door soon. It is important for the safety of you and your household that fire doors are checked regularly, so we would appreciate your co-operation in letting our technicians in to do the work when they visit your home.

All our technicians carry ID cards, so if you are in any doubt as to their identity, do not hesitate to give us a call on freephone 0800 953 0213 and we can check this for you.
