Looking to the year ahead

2021 continued to be a challenging year for us all, as we started to adapt to a ‘new normal’ following the easing of restrictions imposed when the pandemic first hit us the year before. We have all had to learn to do things in different ways, which includes the way we deliver our services to you.

It’s clear that the virus has not gone away, and we need to stay vigilant, get vaccinated and continue following guidelines around hands, face and space. Our top priority throughout 2021 has remained the safety and wellbeing of our customers, colleagues and communities. This aligns to our Community Gateway values and we are committed to continuing to support you in every way we can, keeping you informed and delivering services that benefit you.

We will soon be entering the fourth year of our five-year corporate plan. As part of our corporate objectives over this and subsequent years, we will build on our work to date and continue to:

  • Invest further in our existing homes to update properties and enhance safety.
  • Build new modern homes for affordable rent and shared ownership.
  • Invest in our green spaces to improve the look, feel and security of our neighbourhoods.
  • Following on from The Spires at Maudland Bank, we will continue our commitment to tackling homelessness by remodelling a second former sheltered scheme into new apartments for homeless families and those at risk of homelessness.
  • Begin work on an additional Extra Care Scheme, building upon the success of The Courtyards.
  • Use your feedback from the Survey of Tenants and Residents (STAR) to improve our services.
  • Expand our welfare benefits support to improve our customers’ income and quality of life.
  • Assist you in a variety of ways to successfully manage your tenancy tenancy through employability and welfare support and more.
  • Continue to support victims of domestic violence and those who are vulnerable.
  • Enhance our communications with you and the ways you can shape our services.
  • Provide support with training, employment, and digital skills.
