July Board Meeting

Hi everybody,

The Board met on 21st July and our first topic of discussion was a report from the Chief Executive, Rob Wakefield on the cost of living crisis and how this was impacting both tenants and Community Gateway. With inflation hovering around 9%, the impact on everyone has been immense and we were reassured that CGA were doing its utmost to support customers in a broad range of ways.

The Board heard of the success of our support for the Preston Mela and the Big Lunch activities over the summer and how they had helped bring communities together and reduce social isolation – priorities our customers tell us are important to them.

We were all delighted with the good news that we had been successful in winning two major awards. Firstly, for the best Supported Housing Scheme of the year - that being The Courtyards and secondly for The Purple Pantry in Moor Nook which won best resident support advice programme. We were also shortlisted for the way we support our colleagues through the menopause. The Board thanked everyone for their hard work in these areas.

Rob reported that two new volunteers had joined our tenant committee Gateway Central. The Board were updated on the business covered at Gateway Central’s last meeting which included a discussion around the results of the Survey of Tenants and Residents (STAR), tenant satisfaction and the recent TPAS Conference.

The Board also received the results of the STAR survey, which all tenants received in Spring. All the feedback and results will be looked at in great depth to examine what needs to be improved and what is working well.

Finally, I’d like to remind you that it’s our Annual General Meeting on Thursday 8th September from 6pm. I do hope you are able to attend the virtual meeting again this year and if you have any questions to put to the Executive Team please forward them to Heidi Atkins on heidi.atkins@communitygateway.co.uk

Wishing you all the best.
