Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II 1926 - 2022

We are deeply saddened to hear of the death of Her Majesty the Queen.

Since her accession to the throne as a young girl, following the unexpected death of her father, the Queen has devoted her whole life to service. She embodied an unfailing sense of duty for which she will be forever remembered. All of us at Community Gateway want to extend grateful thanks to Her Majesty the Queen for her record of public service and send our condolences to the Royal Family.

Along with colleagues here at Community Gateway, we know that many of you will remember with fondness the Queen’s visit to Preston with Prince Philip on the last day of her Jubilee Tour in 2002. The event marked the occasion of Preston becoming England's 50th city in the 50th year of Queen Elizabeth II's reign.

She was welcomed in true Lancastrian fashion and remarked afterwards on the incredible warmth and affection shown to her and her husband.

We were also delighted as an organisation to be able to celebrate her Platinum Jubilee with our tenants and their families, holding a series of events across our neighbourhoods and in our sheltered schemes.

We were proud to have been a key partner in the Mayor’s Plant Preston and the Queen’s Green Canopy campaigns, with Gateway teams planting 70 new trees across Preston to mark every year of her reign.

Our deepest condolences to all the Royal Family at this sad time.
