Celebrating 20 Years: Making Gillett Street Cleaner, Greener and Safer

This year, we are celebrating Community Gateway’s 20^th birthday by giving back to our communities through 20 projects.   

Our latest project focused on improving communal spaces around our Independent Living Scheme, Andrew Court in Deepdale, following feedback from tenants about fly tipping, dog foul and anti-social behaviour in the area.

Acting on this feedback, our teams headed to the area with our Community Fund partners, Green Space Transformations, external garden and grounds maintenance service, to help make the area cleaner, greener and safer.

Our Community Fund, supports projects that make a positive impact in our communities, and Green Space Transformations (GST) were awarded funding to help communities reclaim and improve overgrown green spaces. GST did a fantastic job clearing footpaths and communal areas, bringing light and improving safety in the area.

Our Green Care team also overturned a piece of communal land that had attracted a high level of dog foul. The fresh land was spread with wildflower seeds to bring colour to the unused green space.

Teams from across Community Gateway also came together to remove litter and speak with tenants in the area about how we can continue to improve their neighbourhood. On the day, we removed 10 bags of litter, helping to make the neighbourhood a cleaner area that people can be proud of.

This project is just one of many for our 20th birthday celebrations, showing what can be achieved when we come together to improve neighbourhoods.
