Our Plan for the City Centre

Our community plans show how we will work with you to improve the places you live. Each plan is shaped by what matters most to you and reflects the priorities of your neighbourhood.

These plans are based on feedback from Shape Your Space events, pop-ups, surveys, day-to-day conversations, as well as what we see when we are out and about in your area.

Neighbourhood Summary
  • Top Anti-Social Behaviour issues: Neighbourhood disputes, domestic violence/abuse and harassment
  • Community priorities: Fly tipping and dog fouling

What's in scope

  • Shared spaces (greens, paths, lighting seating)
  • Community safety and comfort (sightlines, fly-tipping, minor repairs)
  • Greener bits (planting, planters, biodiversity)
  • Community feel (noticeboards, meet-up spots, small projects)

What's not (being honest)

  • Personal repairs inside your home
  • Big infrastructure outside our control (e.g. public roads, buses)
  • Anything unsafe or unlawful

What we'll do next

  • We will publish what we heard for each area, what we can do now, what needs planning or partners, and when things will happen

What makes the City Centre a great place to live?

Location

We live in a good location, central to town, the market and transport links. Everything you need is close by.

Good neighbours
The neighbours are nice and well connected. Everyone looks out for eachother.
Community Groups

The Harris, Foxton Centre and Catherine Beckett Centre provide community groups and classes.

You said we should focus on?

Dog Foul

Dog foul is present where owners refuse to pick up after their pets.

Anti Social Behaviour

Drug dealing is a problem throughout the night with people often congregating in the area.

Fly Tipping

Fly tipping and littering is an issue from people coming into the area and abandoning large objects.

Improve Communal Area

Improve communal greenspaces to make them more accessible.
