What makes Ashton a great place to live?
"The general area, the people, St Bernards and the park. There are lot's of facilities and shops and I like that CGA has a strong presence in the area."
"Ashton is very quiet, the Hub at St Bernards is a great place to meet people and have social events. I like The Baytree Scheme and having a new Warden who is putting on more events."
"Everyone is friendly, approachable and helpful and I enjoy using the local gym."
"St Bernard's Hub brings people together; it's a focal point in the community. Know the people and know your neighbours."
"The Hub at St Bernard's helps with isolation and meeting new friends with the activities they put on." Having a new Warden at Baytree Farm has been great as they have started to reinstate activities."
"The schools that work with the community on litter picks etc."
"There are good community groups, including St Bernards, and we have a lovely park."
"Great community spirit and great local shopkeepers. They are always willing to help anybody. St Bernard's Hub and Oaktree Court are great community assets. They bring lots of people together for various events and days."
What should we focus on?
Elswick Road
Issues with e-bikes on Elswick Road.
Lighting
Some areas are very dark at night, with no street lighting or lighting on paths and walkways.
Armchair Exercise
More exercise activities for older people who have mobility issues such as armchair exercises.
Youth Provision
Focus on more activities for youth and look at the possibility of youth clubs.
Preesall Road
Fly tipping on Preesall Road. The park at the top of Leyton Road - more could be done about that to improve the community.
Police Presence
It would be good if CGA could work with the police to increase presence in order to tackle e-bike nuisance.
Community Clean Up
Can we look at community clean up days, particularly dog fouling around Norbreck Drive.
Dog Foul Bins
Can we look to work with local schools to run a campaign on dog fouling and install more dog foul bins.
West Park Avenue
CGA previously discussed adding flower beds which would improve the area.
Lyndhurst Bungalows
The area being the Lyndhurst Bungalows is looking very run down and needs attention.
Cleaner Communities
Can we have a community tidy up around the shops on Elswick Road, it's very dark and looks dirty. Also more general clean up days involving other tenants.
Fly Tipping
Fly tipping is a massive issue on our estate - this could be minimised with better lighting and also working with the PACT team who have this as a priority every month.
CGA Garages
People park in front of the CGA Garages, can we have some signage to help prevent this.
