As we welcome in the new year, we are proud to look back on what we have achieved in 2025 at Community Gateway.
Throughout the year, we continued to listen to tenants and worked together to make our communities better places to live.
In January, we reached a monumental milestone with the completion of our 1,000th affordable new build home on Canal Side View in Ashton. The 1,000 homes we have built during our development journey are more than just houses, they have provided homes for over 3,700 people.
In February, tenants got involved in a range of engagement activities, including two scrutiny reviews, three customer journey mapping sessions and a spotlight session focusing on our Extra Care service.Tenant involvement is at the heart of everything we do. Hearing directly from you about what matters most helps improve the services you receive. If you would like to learn more about how to get involved, click here.
In March we launched our Customer Service Commitments. These commitments, shaped by tenant feedback, clearly set out the service standards you can expect from us, reinforcing our dedication to clear, timely communication and delivering a service which is tailored to your individual needs. To provide us feedback on how we are performing against these commitments, click here.
In April, we celebrated the first birthday of our extra care scheme, The Atrium. Residents, colleagues and partners joined us to mark the occasion. The scheme’s communal areas bloomed with flowers planted by residents during a programme with Let's Grow Preston, teaching residents how to plant and encouraging them to get outdoors.
In May, Community Payback helped to develop our Moor Nook Allotments, giving it a new look and making it more accessible to the community. Sky News even paid a visit to see the work and document how rehabilitation can benefit our communities. Read more about the work carried out at Moor Nook Allotments here.
May also marked the month we received the award for Excellence in Company Culture & Employee Development at the Northern Housing Awards! This win highlighted the incredible efforts we put into developing our colleagues and creating a culture where everyone feels valued. This recognition is also a testament to the hard-working teams across our organisation who contribute to making Community Gateway a great place to work.
Teams from CGA came together in June for a day of community development in St Matts. After being out and about in our communities, our teams noticed a rise in litter. Tenants in the area shared that they wanted to see more colour, through planting trees and flowering shrubs. The community improvement day was spent painting fences and litter picking. In July, we brought our services out into the community with our Summer Roadshows. Each week teams from across CGA spent time in our communities, giving tenants the chance to speak to a range of teams directly about what matters most to them. Thank you to everyone who came out to speak to us!
In July, following our inspection by the Regulator of Social Housing, we retained the highest possible gradings of G1 for Governance and V1 for Viability and received the second highest grading of C2 for the new Consumer Standards. To read the full judgement, please visit the Regulator of Social Housing’s website.
Partnership working is vital in keeping our communities clean and safe and in August we joined forces with Places for People and Neighbourhood Policing to tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB) in the City Centre. We received some fantastic feedback from tenants and the day was a great example of partnership working in action, engaging with tenants, both on the doorstep and out in the community to drive change.
In September, over 100 tenants joined us for our Annual General Meeting and Big Get Together. It was a fantastic day to reflect on the past year, celebrate achievements and look ahead. Tenants heard from our Chair, Phil Parramore, watched our Annual Report and Community Empowerment video, voted on key decisions and took part in a Q&A with our Leadership Team.
In October, our community fund supported the delivery of AQA accredited greenspace and garden maintenance training to tenants. Led by Green Space Transformations, the team of tenant volunteers transformed several gardens in our communities, making a real difference. Read more about this project here. October saw the completion of the multi-phase regeneration project in Savick. This is a major investment that has transformed the heart of the community with 52 high-quality family homes for affordable rent, along with a brand-new convenience store and a fantastic community library, run by Lancashire County Council. Find out more about the development project here.
In November, we launched a brand-new way for tenants to have their say in shaping their communities. Coming to more areas in 2026, Shape Your Space is all about giving tenants the chance to decide what matters most to them and choose the community projects they would like to see. We received many great suggestions from tenants who attended the Ashton, Moor Nook and Deepdale sessions and we can’t wait to hear from more communities! In December, tenants at our Independent Living schemes got into the festive spirit with many parties and activities! The sessions, led by our Independent Living Team, received great feedback and it was amazing to see tenants come together.
Thank you to all our tenants who got involved with us in 2025. Here’s to an even better 2026!
