Welcome to my latest blog as Chair of Community Gateway’s Board where I share updates from our June Board meeting and planning session.
In June's meeting, we discussed the progress of the delivery of our improvement plan following our regulatory inspection last year. You may remember that CGA received a C2 Consumer Standards rating last summer, meaning we are meeting the standards, but also recognise there are some areas where we can make improvements and strengthen our services. The Board were pleased with the progress being made and we now await a further response from the Regulator later this summer.
We received updates on the delivery of our Treasury Strategy too, ensuring CGA continues to manage its finances responsibly and has the resources needed to deliver its priorities. As part of this strategy, work is currently ongoing to secure new borrowing arrangements, helping us invest in our services and support the delivery of much-needed new homes.
We also discussed our development programme, confirming that we are making great progress towards building new, affordable homes and investing in our communities as set out in our Corporate Plan. We’re excited to see these projects come to life in the months and years ahead.
Board also received updates on the delivery of both the People Strategy and the Community Empowerment Strategy with strong progress being made on both. An update on delivery of the Community Empowerment Strategy will be provided at our Annual General Meeting. The AGM takes place on Saturday 12th September and we would love to see as many tenants as possible there. If you have not already registered your interest in attending, please do so here!
In my March blog, I shared news about the formation of our new Tenant Voice Group. I am happy to share that the group has grown in members, however we are still very keen to hear from tenants across all our neighbourhoods, ensuring the group reflects our diverse communities. This group provides an opportunity for tenants to share their views, help shape services and influence decisions. For some tenants, it can also be a pathway to joining the Homes and Services Committee and in time, the Board, helping us strengthen our tenant-led model. I hope you enjoy all what summer has to offer and please remember to take care in the heat and look after yourself and those around you. I will be back with another update following our next Board meeting and Annual General Meeting in September.
