Working together to supply and deliver food parcels to the community

We understand this is a very difficult time for everyone, that’s why we are working with Farshare to provide food provision to our customers and people in the community who are in need of the support.

We are coordinating food deliveries to the most vulnerable and those who are self-isolating, whether in sheltered schemes or in the community and requests for help from students at the university and social services.

It has been great to work with local organisations, businesses and charities to help setup this food provision to help those who need it the most during this time. The team at CGA have been travelling around dropping off essential food items and over the course of the last two weeks have distributed over 550 food bags.

The spirit and togetherness of people across the city is unquestionable and it’s fantastic to see everyone working together. We’ll continue to support those who require food provision to ensure they receive the food and supplies they need over coming days and weeks.

Jackie Bird, Tenancy Support Manager, said:

“Everyone has been really appreciative that we can support them like this and amazed at the quality, variety and quantity of the food they received. It has been a bittersweet job for all involved. One of the deliveries was to an elderly single gentleman in his 70s; he is self-isolating and hadn’t seen anyone in 10 days. With no family support, when he received a welfare call for us, he was so thankful we had remembered him. When we later rang him to say we were dropping the parcel off, he was so happy and close to tears and couldn’t believe he was getting fresh fruit and veg.”

Feedback from those who have received food bags has been amazing. Here are just some of them.
