May Board Meeting

Hi everybody,

The Board met on 12th May and welcomed two new tenant Board Members, Kerri and Sara along with a new Co-optee Board member Aimee, who brings her experience in development to the Board. This means we now have five tenants on the Board who provide a strong tenant voice, which is really important and great to see.

The Board reviewed Community Gateway’s performance at the end of year three of the five year Corporate Plan. The organisation’s performance was analysed, and we considered what progress had been made and where adjustments may need to be made to reflect the changing environment. Board agreed to discuss issues in more detail at July’s meeting.

In relation to the organisational performance, it was positive to see that over the last year CGA achieved 100% in relation to its health and safety compliance targets, 80 new homes were developed, including 24 for shared ownership, and although the number of complaints received remained static, the number of compliments had increased.

The Board also approved investment of more than £5.5m in our existing homes over the next 12 months.

The Board is increasingly conscious of how to improve the organisation’s carbon footprint and as such considered a Carbon Neutral study which had been produced for Community Gateway. This will help us to plan how to meet the Government’s net zero target by 2050.

The Board received its last update regarding The Courtyards – our independent living scheme - as the complex is now totally complete, with all apartments let and people enjoying their new homes and all the facilities on offer.

Wishing you all the best
