Flooding Advice for Tenants

The safety of our tenants is our top priority. By planning and preparing in the event of a flood you can aim to reduce the impact of flooding to yourself and your home.

In the event of a flood we would advise you to please take the following actions to ensure that you are prepared.

  • Have an emergency flood kit prepared with essential items that will help you cope in a flood, such as, insurance documents, a torch and spare batteries, warm clothing, non-perishable foods and bottled water.
  • Make sure mobile phones are charged.
  • Check on your neighbours, especially those that are alone, elderly and vulnerable.
  • Keep pets safe and indoor.
  • Know where to turn off your electricity or gas supply, if needed.
  • Secure items outside your home such as bins and outdoor furniture.
  • If advised to leave your property by the authorities, follow any instructions they give and leave your home as secure as possible.

If your property is affected by the flood water or bad weather and you need to arrange an emergency repair please call us on 0800 953 0213. Emergency calls outside of office hours (Monday to Friday 8:00am to 5:30pm) will be answered by our out of hours team.
