  • Have an emergency flood kit prepared with essential items that will help you cope in a flood, such as, insurance documents, a torch and spare batteries, warm clothing, non-perishable foods and bottled water.
  • Make sure mobile phones are charged.
  • Check on your neighbours, especially those that are alone, elderly and vulnerable.
  • Keep pets safe and indoor.
  • Know where to turn off your electricity or gas supply, if needed.
  • Secure items outside your home such as bins and outdoor furniture.
  • If advised to leave your property by the authorities, follow any instructions they give and leave your home as secure as possible.
