Coronavirus – new guidance for Preston households

Coronavirus is on the rise in the North West and it is mainly spreading through households and communities. Yesterday, the Council and the local NHS introduced new guidelines for local residents to help us all work together to reduce the risk of a local lockdown. Areas close to ours have had measures enforced by Government so we need to act now to stop something similar happening in Preston.

At Community Gateway, we have begun to reintroduce our services to you and many have returned to pre-lockdown levels. Unfortunately, we would have to review how we deliver our services, if Preston is put into a local lockdown. It is therefore really important that we all follow these guidelines and make sure that we protect the health and safety of everyone across our communities, so we can continue to deliver the services you rely on.

The new measures are:

  • Avoid visitors to your home
  • Wear face coverings* in enclosed spaces, including places of worship
  • Get tested even if you experience mild symptoms

*Any type of face covering can be worn unless you are exempt.

For a comprehensive list of COVID-19 symptoms visit NHS - COVID-19. We would encourage everyone who can to get tested if they feel at all unwell.

You should also continue to wash your hands regularly with soap and water or an alcohol-based sanitiser, maintain social distancing and stay 2m apart where possible.
