We are proud to be an organisation which embraces diversity and difference. We employ over 250 colleagues who each bring their own unique skills to deliver an excellent service to our customers.
We always recruit the most talented people for any role, regardless of age, disability, gender identity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation.
We aim to be reflective of the communities that we operate in. We promote diversity and encourage applicants from all backgrounds.
In 2020 we launched our latest Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy and this ambitious 4 year plan has already led to a number of actions to make our employment offer more inclusive. This has included:
Introduced a scheme where we review shortlisting scoring for every job and guarantee an interview to all applicants from ethnic minority groups who are close to the shortlisting cut off point. The selection decision at interview will be based on the most suitable candidate for the role, regardless of background or protected characteristic.
Providing training and learning opportunities for all colleagues on diversity and inclusion.
Reviewed our management information and refreshed our targets relating to equality, diversity and inclusion.
Voluntarily published our Ethnicity Pay Gap in addition to our Gender Pay Gap information and identified the areas for improvement.
Reviewed and redesigned our recruitment processes and communications to ensure they are fair and effective.
Redesigned our website to ensure our commitment to inclusivity is clear.
We are also working on our use of imagery to make sure it reflects our workforce and the rich diversity of Preston.
We are proud to hold a number of accreditations that reflect our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
We are a Mindful Employer Charter Signatory, which recognises that we are positive about mental health and work to raise awareness of mental health in the workplace and ensuring we recruit and retain colleagues. We offer lots of support to colleagues with mental health issues, including Occupational Health, counselling and other resources.

If you need any adjustments for an interview or assessment centre, let us know. This could be priority parking, extra time, additional support, or an assessment redesigned for you. Speak with our People Services team who will work with you to make sure you have a fair opportunity in the assessment.
Applicants from Ethnic Minority Groups
We know that applicants from ethnic minority groups may sometimes experience additional barriers when applying for jobs.
Here at Community Gateway, we review shortlisting scoring for every job and guarantee an interview to all applicants from ethnic minority groups who are close to the shortlisting cut off point. The selection decision at interview will be based on the most suitable candidate for the role, regardless of background or protected characteristic.
We also welcome applications from those who speak a second language, particularly for roles working within our communities.

Committed to being Menopause Friendly
We want Community Gateway to be a great place to work, a place where our colleagues feel happy, nurtured and supported. A place where you can all be the very best you can be.
And that means giving you the right support when you need it. Which is why we’ve committed to becoming a menopause friendly employer. This means that we’re now on the path to introducing the right menopause awareness, guidance and support.
We’ve committed to being menopause friendly, taking our support through an accreditation process. When we’ve been assessed, we can display the Menopause Friendly employer badge. This means meeting a clear set of criteria, which is then assessed by an expert independent panel to make sure we’re doing all we can. Knowing that we’re working towards this accreditation can reassure our colleagues that this is something that we’re passionate about getting right. Menopause is not an issue for women. It’s something we all need to understand, a subject we should all feel comfortable discussing at work. The more awareness we have, the better we can support our colleagues, friends and family.
