This year, we are celebrating Community Gateway's 20th birthday by giving back to our communities through 20 projects.
Our latest project focused on improving the area around Dodgson Place in Deepdale, following feedback from tenants about fly tipping, litter and anti-social behaviour (ASB) around West View Leisure Centre.
Listening to this feedback, our teams worked alongside local partners to tackle these issues and help make the neighbourhood cleaner, greener and safer.
We teamed up with the Neighbourhood Police Team through the Prosper Partnership to tackle reports of ASB. The partnership, launched in Lancashire as part of the Clear, Hold, Build strategy, brought an increased police and Community Gateway presence to the area to monitor and address ongoing ASB.
Alongside increasing our presence, we also worked with our Community Fund partner, Green Space Transformations (GST), to improve the green space near West View Leisure Centre.
Our Community Fund provides funding for projects that make a positive impact in our communities. Green Space Transformations successfully secured funding to help communities reclaim and improve overgrown and neglected green spaces.
Over the summer, our teams returned to the area with Green Space Transformations to improve the space. On the day, we removed 15 bags of litter as well as several large items of fly-tip. GST also did a fantastic job clearing overgrown bushes along the disused railway line and safely disposed of hazardous sharps found in the space.
We spoke to a tenant who expressed the impact the works had on the area:
"I have never seen the area look so tidy, it looks fantastic. The team haven't stopped since they arrived!"
This project is just one of the ways we are working together with our partners and local people to create cleaner, greener and safer neighbourhoods where communities can thrive.
