Welcome to my latest blog, in which I share highlights from our recent Community Gateway Board meeting in October.
I’m pleased to say that Board approved the reappointment of Michelle Allott as vice-chair and myself as Chair.
We heard from our Chief Executive, Rob Wakefield, who updated us on the development of an improvement plan following our regulatory inspection earlier this year. You may remember that CGA received a C2 Consumer Standards rating. This means that we are meeting the standards, but also recognises there are some areas where we can make improvements to strengthen our services. Once this improvement plan has been approved by the Regulator, the Board will closely monitor progress against the improvement areas identified.
We discussed key sector updates too, including Awaab’s Law, which came into force on 27th October 2025. This new legislation requires social landlords to fix reported damp, mould and emergency repairs within strict timescales. The Board were provided with assurance on the actions CGA has taken to prepare for this legislation being introduced.
CGA’s Annual General Meeting took place on 12th September and Board were informed that your feedback has been incredibly positive. I really enjoyed the event too and I’d like to personally thank all of you, who took the time to attend or vote in advance. Your views are important and it was great speaking with so many of you at the event.
Board also received a detailed update on our housing management services, covering Anti-Social Behaviour, Hate Crime, Safeguarding, Allocations, Older Persons housing and support for people experiencing homelessness. We were supportive of the report and the focused actions that will help drive improvements.
Finally, we received an update on our development and regeneration work. Our long-term programme of building new homes and investing in our communities remains on track with the goals set out in our Corporate Plan. We’re excited to see these projects continue to take shape in the months and years ahead.
Thanks for reading. Keep an eye on the CGA website for the latest news and I look forward to sharing another update after our next Board meeting in November.
