FAQs
This page answers questions that people often ask the Community Gateway Association (CGA) about repairs.
When will my repair be finished?
This depends on the type of repair needed, and how likely it is to affect people's health and safety.
Sometimes the target date seems a long way off, so tenants ring the CGA to ask for the work to be done more quickly. But we can't usually speed things up. Hundreds of repairs are done every day, so bringing one person's job forward would cause delays for another tenant who has been waiting longer.
The only exception is where a repair hasn't been done by the promised target date. If this happens, please get in touch with the Gateway Repair Line on
0800 953 0213
or
e-mail our repairs service
.
What happens if a worker visiting my home causes damage?
This is very rare, but if it happens, please
e-mail our repairs service
or telephone the Gateway Repair Line on
0800 953 0213
.
I've lost my house keys - what should I do?
You can either arrange for a lock change to be done privately, or ask the CGA to get this work done as an emergency.
Before the CGA will change your locks, you must either sign a form agreeing to pay for the work, or ring the Gateway Repair Line on
0800 953 0213
and discuss payment methods. You will be given 30 days to pay the bill (or we can agree payment by instalments if more convenient for you).
If you want any extra keys cutting when we change your lock, the CGA will do this at cost price - if you request this before the job starts. We can also supply extra security fobs for communal doors with security features - again at the price it costs us.
The CGA can give you information about local locksmiths if you would prefer to organise the work yourself.
