CGA Adaptation Service
An adaptation could make a big difference to your quality of life. If you, or a member of your household, are experiencing difficulties living in your home, it may be possible for CGA to adapt your home to meet your needs.
CGA does not ask you to make a contribution to any adaptations we carry out to your home.
What adaptations are available?
Minor adaptations
Adaptations are classed as
MINOR
if work takes less than 1 day to complete and can be done in one visit. You do not need to provide medical evidence to request a minor adaptation. You can either ring our customer services team on 0800 953 0213 or
Email our Adaptations Team
Once we agree to carry out the work, we will complete it within 20 working days. If we do not agree we will write to you and let you know why.
Examples include:
Grab rails
Extra bannister rails
Keysafes
Drop down rails
Lever taps
Other
MINOR
adaptations may also be available on request.
Major Adaptations
If you think you require a
MAJOR
adaptation, you can request this directly by either ringing our customer services team on 0800 953 0213 or email
Email our Adaptations Team
Alternatively, if you have a social worker or occupational therapist you can ask them to write to us about your needs.
Examples include:
Level access shower
Shower over the bath
Stairlifts
Ramp
External handrails
Widening doorways
We need to consider a number of factors before making a decision to approve a major adaptation. Following a major adaptation request we will:
If necessary, arrange an appointment for a member of staff to visit and collect more detailed information about the problems you are having in your home.
Make a decision based on your needs; if the work is reasonable and practicable; and whether a move to a more suitable property would be more appropriate.
