Facts and figures

Here are a few key facts and figures about the CGA. To find out more, please contact Robin Ridgley on 01772 268019 or e-mail our newsdesk.

  • The Community Gateway Association (also known as CGA or Gateway for short) was launched in November 2005

  • CGA is a not-for-profit housing association and a registered charity. Any extra money made by the association is reinvested into the business, to maintain existing homes and help finance new housing

  • There are fifteen people on the CGA's Board. Seven of those people are tenants of the association, three are councillors on Preston City Council and the remaining five are independent

  • CGA is the first housing association in the UK to be set up under the 'Community Gateway Model' (which allows tenants to gradually take greater control over their communities)

  • CGA manages over 6,000 homes in Preston and the surrounding area, the majority of which are ex-council homes transferred from Preston City Council

  • Transferring homes to CGA allowed an £80 million programme of property improvements and neighbourhood regeneration to take place

  • CGA places much more emphasis on resident involvement and empowerment than most landlords - setting aside £400,000 each year to get local people on board and influencing its work

  • The association's chief executive is Diane Bellinger.
