Get involved

Gateway wants as many people as possible to get involved in shaping plans and services. This section explains some of the options available.

Local Community Areas

We provide local services through 10 Local Community Areas, or LCAs for short. These areas, and the local residents' groups operating within them, are shown on the area map.

Within these 10 areas, there are around 50 smaller neighbourhoods (known as 'sub-areas') that reflect local community boundaries.

Local Community Area Task Forces

A group of people called a 'task force' works together in each of the 10 Local Community Areas. This group includes residents, Gateway staff, local councillors and sometimes police and school representatives.

The task forces develop and monitor plans and programmes, so that local residents can get involved in local activities and decision-making. Each group looks at existing community involvement to see what's working locally. They then set out plans and priorities for action. The task forces also keep an eye on how well the Gateway is working in their area.

Community Options Studies

To help local people get involved in neighbourhood decisions,Gateway carries out community options studies. These studies find out what's important in local communities - to help residents make their priorities happen, through realistic plans and support.

Community Gateway Association will develop and support local community groups as part of this work.CGA wants to make sure that everyone in the area can get involved if they want to, by bringing together residents and local organisations that provide services.

Scheme Panels

CGA wants tenants to get involved at every stage that improvements are made to homes and neighbourhoods.

Whenever improvements start in local areas, a group will be set up to manage the works programme. This group, called a 'scheme panel', will organise and manage the improvement work and monitor contractor performance.

Each scheme panel will include tenants, Gateway staff and representatives from the contractors doing the work in that area. As scheme panels are set up in each area,Gateway will contact tenants to see who's interested in getting involved.

We know that it is not always easy for our tenants to get to Deltic House to see someone and not all our tenants like to speak to someone on the telephone.

Monthly Surgeries

In a survey carried last year you said that you wanted surgeries on a range of service areas including Rents, Anti- Social Behaviour and Allocations. We have introduced a series of monthly surgeries in each Local Community Area which are attended by colleagues from all service areas.

See the table below to find the surgery closest to you. Staff from all the teams will be there ready and waiting to deal with you query so no matter what you want to know, we will be there to answer it for you. Private interview space is available to ensure your query is dealt with confidentially.
