Community Gateway Association (also known as CGA or the Gateway for short) is a community business that was set up to meet the housing needs of people in Preston and the surrounding areas.CGA is a housing association, providing high quality homes for people in need.

But it's more than that.Gateway is also about creating friendly communities, where people want to live. Research shows that people often rate a friendly neighbourhood higher than transport links, access to shops and even low crime.

CGA was the first housing association in England to be set up as a 'community gateway'. This means that tenants and communities are at the heart of Gateway's decisions, and local people have many opportunities to get involved with how the organisation is run. That's appropriate because our organisation was set up as a result of tenant support; in a vote to transfer homes, 81% of tenants were in favour of setting up Gateway.

Gateway was created to increase resident influence and empower people. Giving local people control over decisions helps to improve services and the long-term success of the organisation.
