"I'd only moved into my new home in the last few months, and I thought I'd give the GTC a go. I didn't know what to expect, but everyone has been really friendly, and it's really interesting considering how the Gateway will transform the lives of the people in Preston."

Diane Davies, who became a member of the Gateway Tenant Committee in 2005.

The Community Gateway Association (CGA) was set up because tenants supported it. In a vote to transfer homes, 81% of tenants were in favour of setting up the Gateway.

By 2010, the CGA plans to spend at least £80 million on repairs and modernisation, as well as beefing up the repairs service and developing new ways of involving tenants in its work. The association aims to keeping homes in good condition so that residents can live in safe, warm housing that will be fit for many years to come.
