Nuisance/ASB
The Community Gateway Association (CGA) believes that everyone has the right to enjoy peace, quiet and security in and around their home. Any incidents of nuisance and anti-social behaviour will be taken very seriously.
CGA expects tenants and residents to display acceptable standards of behaviour at all times. The Association works closely with the police and other partners to reduce crime and nuisance in local neighbourhoods.

What is anti-social behaviour?
Anti-social behaviour (known as ASB for short) can mean different things to different people. CGA believes it is important to define ASB, so that people suffering from it or causing it are clear what we mean.
We use the legal definition, as contained in the 1996 Housing Act:
Any conduct which is capable of causing nuisance or annoyance to any person, and which relates to or affects the housing management of CGA
Any conduct which consists of or involves using (or threatening to use) CGA's accommodation for an unlawful purpose.
Examples of anti-social behaviour can include:
Harassment and intimidation
Domestic violence
Damaging or threatening to damage another person's home or possessions
Hate behaviour that targets members of identified groups because of their perceived differences
Evidenced drug dealing/involvement
Physical violence or assault.
How do we deal with anti-social behaviour?
CGA expects and actively encourages its tenants to be good neighbours. A good neighbour is someone who acts reasonably and considerately, and respects the different values and lifestyles reflected in the community.
We are committed to tackling issues of anti-social behaviour in five ways:
Prevention
Partnership working
Effective enforcement
Safeguarding communities
Rehabilitation of perpetrators.
The tenancy agreement is a legal contract between CGA and its tenants. This says that tenants are responsible for their own behaviour and the behaviour of the people who live with them or visit them. This means that we can take action both when tenants are proven to be acting anti-socially and when people living with them, including children and visitors are causing problems.

Racial harassment
CGA will not tolerate racially-motivated acts of violence and intimidation against residents. We will do everything we can to help people who are being subjected to racial harassment.
Examples of racial harassment include:
Graffiti
Malicious complaints
Leaflets, pamphlets and other written material
Damage or threats of damage to property
Threatening behaviour
Any act or omission calculated to interfere with someone's peace or comfort.
If you are affected by any type of anti-social behaviour or racial harassment - or you have witnessed someone else being affected by it - you can make an intial complaint to us, irrespective of whether you are a CGA tenant. Please contact our Community Safety Team by
